Servant

Philippians 1:1, II Timothy 2:24, II Corinthians 6:4, Acts 16:16, Matthew 24:25, Matthew 5:13-16

In the world today people want to be recognized, elevated, and put in the first place so that others may see and know who they are and what they have done or are doing.  Jesus, however, reminded His disciples that they were to “serve” others and not be concerned about how they were recognized but focus on helping people in need. He reminded them to:

  • Help the needy

  • Invest in the poor

  • Pray and trust for healing

  • Be friends with the unliked

  • Show kindness to the rejected

Jesus was concerned about helping others in their need and thus showed the love of God through His actions and words.  It is to be remembered, ”people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  Yes, ”people do need the Lord” but it is the believer’s great joy to show God’s love thus drawing people to the Lord as He is the only One who loves and saves.

Prayer: Forgive me Lord for focusing on myself. Open my eyes to people in need and move me to serve others.
