Think Before You Speak
Ephesians 4:29-31, I Thessalonians 5:11, Colossians 4:6
One of the great opportunities we have each day is to invest in others by speaking words that lift, encourage, bless, and give life. Unfortunately, many people are known for their judgmental and critical spirit rather than for an attitude of consideration, understanding, and kindness that governs their speech.
Daily we have multiple opportunities to be a blessing to others by speaking peaceful and helpful words. This is not done by accident but by choice and caution.
We must:
Refrain from wrong words
Choose right words
Determine to be a blessing
Look for opportunities to encourage
Think carefully before speaking
Quickly ask forgiveness for wrong words
So it is how we choose to use our words each day that really makes the difference. Words do bring sadness and grief or light, life, and encouragement. The choice is ours to make for a few simple words to make a great difference.
