First
Matthew 6:33, Proverbs 2:1-22, Colossians 3:17, Exodus 20:3, Psalms 27:4, Isaiah 40:31
Generally whatever a person does first is the most important or needed thing at the time. A person usually wants their coffee, food, and other details to get the day started correctly. It certainly is not wrong to begin the day by drinking or eating early in the morning. However, if one is not careful, soon the time has slipped away and they did not invest time to “wait on the Lord.” Preceding on into the day with little or no spiritual intake will often lead to frustration, worry, and troubles. It is not that reading the Bible and prayer is some sort of magic, but it does bring God into one’s thinking and often changes perspective. We are reminded in II Corinthians 12:9 that the Apostle Paul did not get relief from his pain but had God’s power, courage, and strength in his life. Putting God first is a very important aspect of one’s time management and is vital in a growing relationship with the Lord.
Prayer: Lord, I will yield my life to You today and look to You for direction, wisdom, strength, and courage. Help me this day to do Your will and be Your ambassador and example.
