Rest
Matthew 11:28-30 Psalms 4:8, Isaiah 14:3, 26:3, Philippoians 4:6-7
Multitudes are looking for a place to rest today and even give significant amounts of money in hopes of finding rest. Eliza Edmund Hewitt wrote of finding a resting place in the Lord. Although she developed a spinal malady early in life she wrote poetry and many songs, taught Sunday school, and was very involved in the primary department of her church. In the face of all life's challenges she wrote, “my faithful has found a resting place, from guilt my soul is freed. I trust the ever-living One, His wounds for me shall plead, I have no other argument, I need no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died and that He died for me.” Eliza goes on to write much more about resting in the Lord and His work for sinners. On this day of clambering for rest and peace, it brings great joy to one’s soul to rest and trust in our eternal God. Rest in His word today as you read and rest in bringing your soul, life, and needs to Him.
Prayer: Thank You Lord I have found the resting place in You.
