Nevertheless
Luke 5:5-6, John 14: 15, 21, James 1:22, Luke 11:28, II John 1:6, Romans 12:1
The disciples had worked all night and had nothing to show for their labors, but when Jesus told them to “let down their nets” they obeyed Him and they caught a “great multitude of fishes”. It is when one obeys the Lord that miraculous things take place. In I Samuel 15:22 we are reminded that obedience is more important than sacrifice. Many times a believer just goes about doing their own thing and ignores the leading of the Lord only to come up with “no fish”. God’s ways are generally:
Not man’s ways
Not on the same timeline as humans
Not the work of man’s uniqueness but of His
It is the great joy of the obedient believer to have the leading of the Holy Spirit and it is in obedience to the leading of God that miraculous things happen. We must be cautious not to focus on the “empty nets” but to focus on the commands, promises, provisions, warnings, and ways of God.
Prayer: Thank You Lord for all You have done in my life and for govong me Your wisdom and strength to do whatever You lead me to do.
