Check, Admit, Turn
II Chronicles 7:14, I John 3:6-7, II Peter 3:9, James 4:7, I John 1:9, Acts 3:19
It is easy to look at others and determine their faults, problems, shortcomings, and sins. It seems quite difficult however to check one’s own life to see about the areas God desires us to change. We are reminded in the Bible not to keep sins such as jealousy, bitterness, anger, and the lack of forgiveness in our life. Yet, often these sins are not checked seriously or carefully considered as the focus is on the needs of others. Yet, if the believer desires God’s power, wisdom, and presence in their life they must deal with sins obediently. It is vitally important that believers are diligent in cleaning up their own hearts and live according to the Bible rather than being focused intently on the faults of others. The followers of Christ must be diligent to deal with, what Jerry Bridges has called, “respectable sins”.
Prayer: Lord, show my areas and sins that need to be dealt with in my life.
Project: List any or all areas that must be dealt with now.
