Forgiveness… The Key To Freedom
Matthew 18:21-35, Matthew 6:12, Ephesians 4:32
If you have been to a real concert you noticed that the instrumentalist came early and tuned up their instruments. When a group plays and some of them are out of tune it creates a real problem. So it is with the body of Christ, the church, for it is like a concert with all the members giving forth some sounds. Unfortunately, many in the church orchestra (members of the church) are out of tune because they are carrying the burden of unforgiveness. There was a conflict, clash, or misunderstanding and someone was hurt or offended and now their life is “out of tune”. According to Matthew 18:21-35, there are no limits, no demands, no conditions, and no condemning, just forgiveness. A person who forgives another is Christlike in character as they demonstrate obedience, understanding, forbearing, and mercy. Whereas the unforgiving person attacks others, makes demands, has very little or no compassion, and is ruthless and unkind. Because of unforgiveness, relationships are broken, there is stress and tension, corruption of the inner person, and bondage. As one obeys the Bible they are to “forgive from their heart” and let God take care of the offender.
Prayer: God, reveal any unforgiveness in my heart and help me to see what it is doing to my life.
Project: List all of the people you need to forgive.
