Checking for Weeds

Romans 6:12-14, II Corinthians 7:1, I James 1:9, Colossians 3:5, Ephesians 5:11-12, Matthew 5:13-16

The serious gardener diligently walks through their garden on a regular basis to be sure that the weeks are not springing up and growing to consume and destroy the vegetables.  So it is with life.  The serious believer daily looks over the “garden” of their life to biblically deal with sinfulness such as:

  • Evil thoughts

  • Immoral thoughts and ideas

  • Sinful practices in the quiet of the private life

  • Speaking words that do not honor the Lord and bless others

  • Selfishness and self-pity

  • Pride and a proud spirit

  • Robbing God of money as they spend funds unprayerfully on things of this world.

Just as the gardener is diligent to pull the weeds out, the spiritual believer deals with each sin as God directs in His Word so their life is not overcome with the sins.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see the weeds (sins) in my life and give me the wisdom to deal with each sin as You desire and be a determined follower of You and Your Word today.
