Temperance
II Peter 1:6, Galatians 5:22-23, Philippians 4:5, I Corinthians 6:19-20, Romans 12:1-2, Colossians 3:10, Proverbs 19:14
Temperance or self-control is vitally important to an effective life. There was a time of complaining and grumbling over a call in professional basketball. However, now if a player argues or disagrees with the official, there is a technical foul. So, there are many adults who wished they had not acted like a child and instead, they demonstrated a lack of temperance and self-control by:
Not thinking before speaking
Not getting the entire account before acting
Speaking or becoming involved in a situation that was not theirs
Doing wrong things out of control
It is the lack of temperance (self-control) that many people are hurt, and embarrassed, and relationships are destroyed.
Prayer: Lord, open my spiritual ears so I can hear what is really said to and about others.
Project: List areas where temperance was not displayed and what you should do not to make it right.
