Coasting or Climbing
II Corinthians 12:8-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, 6:10, Psalms 23:4, John 14:17, Philippians 4:4-7, Galatians 6:7-8
One must be careful, for unless they are seeking to grow and move ahead they will be coasting downhill. The fact about coasting is that one can ONLY coast downhill. In a short time, one is going downhill or backwards in many aspects of life and the further one goes downhill they gain speed and it soon becomes much harder to turn around and start climbing again. This is not to question God, for He is all-powerful and forgiving. However, God does not do “magic” tricks to change a person. He does forgive and answer prayer but one must live, walk, think, and move in obedience to the leading of the Lord and the Bible. In Galatians 6:7-8 we are reminded about the “law of the harvest” which Is, what one plants is what one will harvest. So, if a person has been planting slothfulness, discontent, murmurings, and unrest, they will get these things in life (the harvest). Or we could say, they go downhill until they stop coasting and start climbing in their study, reading, prayer, marriage, and every area of life.
Prayer: Lord, guide me to see the areas in my life that I have been content just to coast.
Project: List the areas coasting appears in life and what must be done now.
