Around the Bend
Proverbs 3:5-6, 16:3, Psalms 20:7,40:4, Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10, Romans 8:28
Hardly a day goes by when one does not wish they could see and know what awaits them “around the next bend” of life. Will it be blessings, strength, angry people, troubles, hurt, or pain? As much as we would like to know the future we can know and have confidence that God knows our future. We may be like the person who entitled his book, “I never saw that coming” So, we live by faith and trust in God to lead us through the valleys (Psalm 23:1-6) and to give us the strength and courage (II Corinthians 12:9) needed to face and endure whatever is around the next bend. In Hebrews 11:1 we are reminded that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” So, one can continue on even though they do not know what is around the next bend of life, for God does know and he has promised to “never leave” His own and to give them the strength and courage they need. So the believer can eagerly press on (Philippians 3:14) as the Apostle Paul challenges forgetting what has happened and living to be a blessing in the future.
Prayer: God, thank You that the future is in Your hand and You have promised not to leave me.
Project: List the road signs of your life as you near the bend and what you should do.
