A Trap That Destroys
Philippians 4:6-7, Proverbs 3:5-6, Galatians 2:20, Proverbs 27:1, Ephesians 6:10-20
One of the traps that people walk into is living in the future. Living this way includes worry and anxiety over what might happen in the days to come. Living in the future draws one’s mind, heart, and life away from today and often leads to depression, fear, anxiety, and despair. A believer in this situation is a bad example to others as they often are irritable, unkind, and isolated. It is true that one needs to effectively plan for the future, but one must be careful to live one day at a time. We have been reminded many times that often the things that cause one so much worry and anxiety never happen. Many years ago Carolina Sandell (the Fanny Crosby of Sweden) wrote, “Day by day, and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here.” These words, and many more, have helped believers to trust daily in the Lord. Why not find a hymnal now and read all the words of the hymn, Day by Day.
Prayer: God I am so thankful for today and all You have done. Lead me today as I trust and obey Your plans for the future.
