First

Matthew 6:33, 10:37-38, Colossians 3:17, Exodus 20:3, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 27:4

It seems like many people, businesses, organizations, and even churches want to be first and clamor to make themselves known to all. In the scriptures, we read that God and His Word should be first and most important in our life. In Matthew 6:33, we read in the Amplified New Testament that, we are to “first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right, the attitudes and character of God) and all these things shall be given to you also.” So, believers must seek God first and keep His Word in their minds, hearts, and lives. This is done by:

  • Reading, and meditating in and on the Bible daily

  • Applying the Word to one’s life in obedience

  • Prayer

  • Doing the will of God in all things

It is challenging each day to put God first in all things as one is bombarded with demands, but this is how the “inner person” is filled and leans on God as Paul prays about in Ephesians 3:14-21.

Prayer: God show me who or what is causing You to not be first in my life.

Project: list the people or things that may take first place in your life and how you plan to obey God in these areas.
