The Real Problem

Titus 2:11-13, II Chronicles 7:14, Hebrews 12:1, Romans 6:11-14, Psalms 51:10, II Corinthians 7:1

When a person takes their car in for repairs they expect the mechanic to fix the problem. If he finds other problems and does not fix the real problem the vehicle is not repaired.  So it is with a follower of Christ who does not deal with the real problem of sin in their life. Jesus spoke to the Pharisees and reminded them that they had the outside of the cup clean but the inside was still contaminated.  In other words, they had not solved the real problem. Sometimes a person blames their family, friends, society, or even God instead of addressing the real problem. So, what should a person do? They should:

  • Admit the real sin (Pr. 28:13)

  • Confess it to the Lord (I Jn. 1:9)

  • Seek forgiveness (Mt. 5:23-24)

  • Forgive (Matt. 6:14-15)

  • Obey the Bible and move on (Pr. 3:5-6)

Jesus has promised us abundant life (John 10:10) if we obey and deal with the real sins.  When one does not deal with the “real” sins, life becomes like a clogged stream, and the joy of the Lord is not seen in their life. So to be refreshed and enjoy the blessings of God in life, obedience is the great key.

Prayer: Lord, reveal my real problems and I thank You for the grace, strength, and plan to deal with these sins.
