Keeping the Spiritual Fire Burning
James 4:8, Proverbs 26:20, Psalms 119:105, 165
One of the most important things to remember about a wood-burning stove is that it takes wood to keep the fire doing. So, if you want to stay warm, you must keep the fire burning. So it is with the Christian life. One must keep spiritual wood on the fire of their mind, and heart so they keep their focus and attention on the things of the Lord. Many, so-called believers, have drifted away from the truths of scripture, and the concern and interest they had in spiritual matters grew dim. Sometimes these followers of Christ would blame the church, pastor, others, family members, and circumstances for the spiritual fire going out in their life. It is not that one would lose their salvation, but they do become interested in many other things and thus allow the spiritual fire to dwindle in their life. It is vitally important that the follower of Christ:
Sets aside time to read, meditate and apply the Bible to their life each day.
Determines to aggressively obey all that the Holy Spirit brings to their attention.
Gives themself for regular service to the Lord.
Takes careful concern as to the spiritual fire in their life.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the joy of knowing and serving You. I give myself to keeping Your word at the center of my life to keep the spiritual fire burning.
