Through, Not Out
II Corinthians 4:7-18, 12:7-10, Proverbs 3:5-6, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
We often pray that God would deliver us from the situation to have victory. However, God is more concerned about the lessons He teaches us and the person He wants to produce in us. The Apostle Paul stated that he had been through all kinds of difficulties (II Corinthians 4:7-10) and even asked in II Corinthians 12:7-9 that the pain/trouble would be taken from him. However, God did not take it from him but told him that He “would give grace or strength to get through the challenge”. So, we can conclude that God is more concerned about the person, and the lessons we are to learn that He is teaching us. We are to be content in the ways of God, for these are His major concerns.
Learning to be content in the ways of God is a great lesson to be learned as we travel this journey of life following the Lord. It is as the late Charles Stanley wrote, “Oftentimes God demonstrates His faithfulness in adversity by providing for us what we need to survive. He does not change our painful circumstances. He sustains us through them.”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the grace and strength I need today and help me learn the lessons You have for me.
Project: List the things you are asking God to remove and thank Him for the grace to get through each situation.
