Praying For Others

Ephesians 6:18, Matthew 6:14-15, Colossians 1:9, James 5:16, 44, II Corinthians 5:17, I Corinthians 13:4-7

Often one is focused on getting even or speaking the last word to, “even up the score.” Well, this is not what the Bible teaches believers to do.  As a believer in Christ one is to:

  • Forgive the offender

  • Show love

  • Pray for those who persecute you

  • Reach out in the love of Christ

  • Be kind and merciful to the offender

  • Put the situation out of mind and life

For the Christian is to be a representative of what the Lord is doing in their life (II Corinthians 4:7). As the unbeliever sees how Christ has changed a believer’s mind and reaction, they, in turn, are drawn to the Lord.  It was when Job prayed for his friends that God saw his heart and blessed him in unusual ways.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for holding grudges in my heart. Thank You for the freedom that You give.

Project: List the people that God is reminding you now that should be prayed for and do so.
