Seeking and Granting Forgiveness

Matthew 5:23-24, Matthew 18:21-35, Mark 11:25, Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13

There is a game in which a person is given things to carry from one area to another and as they are successful the load is increased.  Often the game is played with laughter and fun. However, in the events of life a person often times tries to carry words, events, and responses in their life instead of dealing with them as the Bible directs.  Because of this, the life-load becomes too heavy and difficult to carry.  We read in the Bible that:

  • Cain had baggage of jealousy and anger

  • Jonah had the baggage of pride and prejudice

  • David had the baggage of wrong and evil thoughts

  • Achan had the baggage of greed

And all of these Bible characters experienced regret and sorrow.  It is God’s way to ask for forgiveness if needed and to grant forgiveness so one does not have to carry the baggage of resentment and anger.

My declaration: I will deal with forgiveness and any baggage in my life as the Bible directs.
