Listening and Changing

Proverbs 4:10, 9:9, 17:10, I Peter 5:5, I Corinthians 2:13-14, I Thessalonians 5:14

It seems like there are plenty of people in “our” world that are anxious to share their opinions, of which do not always seem helpful or encouraging to the listener.  Yet, we are reminded in the Bible that:

  • A wise person listens to others

  • A wise person seeks the Lord’s wisdom

  • A wise person learns from encounters in life

  • A wise person does not condemn

  • A wise person speaks good and encouraging words

  • A wise person/believer conducts their life as they should

It is in Biblical instruction that a Believer is to act, respond, and conduct their life in obedience to the Bible and the leading of the Holy Spirit.  This has been referred to as having a “teachable spirit”.  Listening to the words of others is often the way God brings His will to our attention. So, one must be open to the ways of the Lord if they are to grow and have a teachable spirit.

Prayer: Lord, help me to hear Your words and to grow in grace and mercy.
