Be A Friend

Proverbs 18:24, I Thessalonians 5:11, Colossians 3:13, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, Proverbs 19:9, Psalms 133:1

Many people want friends or people to be friendly to them but they are not friendly to others. Yes, there are many lonely people today and it is the opportunity of a believer to reach out to the lonely and be friendly to them and also be sure to tell them about the ”friend who is closer than a brother”, Jesus. Many years ago, in a great time of need and discouragement, Joseph Scriven wrote, “what a friend we have in Jesus.” Out of his life of grief and trials, Scriven spent many hours in the presence of his friend, Jesus, who met his every need. Just as Jesus met the needs of Joseph Scriven, He does meet needs today as we reach out to Him. It is our joy to be a friend to the lonely as Jesus did in His earthly walk. Take time to list the people that God brings to mind that are in need of an earthly friend and then reach out to tell them of your concern and the friend who is always closer than a brother.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the refreshing You give to my soul and guide me today as I reach out to those in need of an earthly friend.
