Real Secret

Philippians 4:4-9, Luke 12:22-26, Psalms 27:1, 34:7, 46:1, Deuteronomy 31:6

We hear many steps and plans today for a life of significance and meaning. However, often these steps are not anchored in the infallible Word of God. Life is filled with challenges that are often unexpected, leaving one in darkness and anxiety. The apostle Paul has given great instructions in the fourth chapter of Philippians for winning over worry. As stated, the steps would include the following:

  • Rejoice in the Lord - be happy and content in what God has allowed or brought into your life.

  • Let your gentleness be known to all - be kind, considerate, helpful, compassionate, and gentle to all.

  • Don’t be worried and anxious - worry robs one of the blessings and joys of each day as it drains of energy.

  • Pray with thanksgiving - we must never forget to pray as we try to work out the details of our challenges.

  • Rest in God’s peace - this is the peace of heart that only comes from God as the weary soul rests in Him.

  • Think about the right things - what is in a person’s mind sets the tone for their behavior.

  • Do what you know is right to do - keep doing that which God instructs in His word.

If a person wants freedom and victory they must obey the Bible. II Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that when a person accepts the Lord as Savior they become a new person and then our Lord works and moves in their heart and life as they obey His word.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your Word and give me the wisdom to understand and do your will.

Project: List the steps that are being followed for peace and determine to do what God instructs in the Bible.
