The Battles Are His

Proverbs 28:25, Psalms 23:1-6, II Kings 6:15-17, Psalms 3:1-3, Romans 8:31

Battles come our way often whether they be in a form of a person, troubles, physical problems, or the unseen challenge of aging. It is the tendency of mankind to fight these problems with human strength. However, as Dr. Charles Stanley has written, “when God-sized battles arise, it is arrogant to think you can handle them by yourself with your own strength, political savvy, armaments or diplomacy… they always belong to Him.” So, you don’t have to come up with a plan for the Lord will fight your battles ( Isaiah 54:17). We must learn to trust the Lord and obey His word. It is in waiting on Him and His ways that one learns and grows spiritually. Often, great difficulties are created when one “runs ahead” of God and acts or reacts in fleshly and carnal ways. One needs to read Psalm 23 often and be reminded that the Lord is our shepherd and He knows the best way and time.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for running ahead and not waiting for and following Your plan. Thank You for grace, strength, and courage to do Your will.

Project: Think about and make a list of areas where you have run ahead, acted, or spoken out of your plans and not God’s will, and determine now what you must do to be in obedience to Him.
