Control Your Emotions

Proverbs 29:11, I Corinthians 9:24-27, Proverbs 25:28, Colossians 4:6, Proverbs 15:23, Matthew 18:21-35

It has often been said that “anything out of control is dangerous” and so it is when it comes to emotions.  Often a person becomes mad or sad and this has a great effect on the emotions. If a person is not careful and obedient, words are spoken or actions taken that lead to trouble and regret. Rather than exploding one should:

  • Pray (Luke 18:1)

  • Wait (Isaiah 40:31)

  • Get the whole story (Proverbs 18:17)

  • Be understanding and thoughtful (Romans 12:3)

Better to invest, help, and encourage people than it is to blow up and have some bitter exchanges that result in other problems.  Emotions are a part of us that need constant care and great reminders from the Bible regularly.  It is vitally important to remember that asking and granting forgiveness is important when emotions are allowed to be out of control.

Prayer: Lord, give me Your grace and strength to understand others.
