Living By Principles
Proverbs 4:20-27, 21:21, Psalms 23:1-6, Ephesians 5:15-16, Colossians 3:23-24
There is security when a person conducts their life by sound and lasting principles of the Bible. Such a record is found in Proverbs 4:
Listen and obey the Bible
Guard your heart (inner person)
Do not speak words that dishonor the Lord
Keep your eyes on the Lord
Check the paths you are taking often
Do not get off the spiritual path
These are only some of the Biblical principles that a wise believer lives by daily. When God’s principles are ignored or rejected, one pays a great price (Galatians 6:7-10). So, we must be careful not to disregard the principles of God’s Word and start down a path that leads to more sins, regret, sorrow, and possible bondage. Living by God’s principles in the Bible gives freedom, peace, refreshing of the soul, wisdom, and many other blessings. It is good to reinforce the Biblical principles often because the human heart and life are “prone to wander” as Robert Robinson wrote about in the hymn, Come thou Fount.
Prayer: Lord, refresh my mind of the principles You want me to recall now.
Project: List the guiding principles God is bringing to attention now and how they will be lived out today.
