Heart Shows Up

Proverbs 27:19, 4:23, Jeremiah 17:9-10, 29:13, Psalms 51:10, I Samuel 16:7, Matthew 22:37

It was fun to look in the creek and see one’s reflection but whatever was seen was a true picture of the face looking into the water. So it is true with one’s life as it reflects the desires, wants, and feelings of the heart. Many times people try to convince others of certain things but their life does not match up to what they are saying, for life actions and words do reflect the desires and feelings of the heart. Trying to convince people of something that is not in the heart is futile. As Jesus taught in Matthew 22, “the heart” shows up in the way a person talks and acts. Therefore, it is vitally important that a person cares for the heart and feeds the inner person the truths of God’s Word regularly. The heart needs to be checked, cleaned, changed, and given God’s word and ways on a regular basis as the heart can be “deceitful and desperately wicked.” So, how is your heart?

Prayer: Lord, guide me to see what is really in my heart (inner person) and give me strength and courage to change everything that needs to be changed in order to do Your will.

Project: In checking my heart I need to change… list actions and words as God reminds you that what is in the heart needs to be changed to reflect and do His will and speak words that are edifying to others.
