Fast Growing

I Samuel 2:26, II Peter 3:18, Hebrews 6:1, Colossians 1:9-10

I was careful to read the label, “fast-growing shrubs”. Just what I was looking for and the shrubs were purchased. I followed the instructions for planting the “fast-growing shrubs”. However, I soon discovered that the label did not mean the same to me as it did to the seller. It did not take long before I came to the realization that it takes time to grow a shrub. So it is with the life of Christ as the believer is transformed into the “image of Christ”. In fact, according to the Bible, one should be careful about the “fast-growing” Christian, for it does take time to grow into what God desires to see in one’s life. To assist in one’s spiritual growth one should:

• Study the Bible regularly

• Wait before God in prayer

• Carefully learn from other believers and teachers

• Service of the Lord

These are a few of the ways a person “grows in the Lord and has a spiritual mind”. Then, spiritual growth is evidenced in words, conduct, and behavior as one becomes more like the Lord. So, be faithful to the Lord in all ways, seek the Lord in all your ways, and obey to have the “mind of Christ”.
