It Isn’t Fair

Galatians 6:9, Hebrews 12:1, Philippians 4:13, Romans 5:3-4, Deuteronomy 31:8, II Corinthians 4:16-18

“It just isn’t fair” is often stated as one sums up a situation. Well, that is true as we are reminded in Ecclesiastes by Solomon that what one focuses on many times is not right or “fair”. Solomon thought that:

  • Accomplishments bring joy

  • Friends bring happiness

  • Possessions make one continually happy

  • Pleasing others is the answer to life

  • Reputation is the key to happiness

  • Position is vital to joy and happiness

  • Being praised by others is the great key to life

These pursuits and others often become one’s goal as one searches for happiness that lasts in this world. However, they soon realize that true happiness is only found in a personal relationship with Christ and obedience to the Bible. Life is “not fair” so the heart is only content as a person is in Christ and focused on the Word.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your presence and the joy You are to all who seek You.

Project: List any ways you are trying to find happiness.
