Lessons From Nehemiah

Nehemiah 1:1-4, 2:4, 20, 3:1-2, 4:6, 5:11, 6:9, 15-16, Proverbs 3:5-6

There are plenty of books and articles on how to do something and these may be good, but there is not one like the book of Nehemiah. He had an important job but God called him to a task that was needed. As one reads the account of Nehemiah they are reminded that he:

  • Received a vision from God

  • Made a commitment

  • Developed a plan

  • Showed great determination and diligence

  • Had a great burden to finish the job

  • Had great faith and trust in God

  • Worked until it was done.

There are many more lessons one could learn from the life and work of this great leader. It would be helpful to invest some time now and list the lessons God would have you remember as you learn from studying. Nehemiah and other leaders in the Bible were humans faced with challenges, trials, problems, and difficulties as we are today. Therefore, we should learn and apply God’s great lessons to our life as well.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for doing great things then and now.

Project: List the lessons God is bringing to your attention now and ask for His wisdom in obeying His Word today.
