Weapon or Blessing

James 3:1-12, Proverbs 25:11, I Peter 3:10, Colossians 4:6, Ephesoans 4:29, Proverbs 10:14

Each day the normal person speaks thousands of words and many times the people do not think carefully about the words being used and how they are received by others. Many times words cause:

  • Troubles

  • Disunity

  • Embarrassment

  • Divisions

  • Injury

  • Hurts of gossip

It is certainly true as stated in Proverbs 18:20-21 that words bring “life or death”. Mankind is concerned about “weapons of mass destruction” and they should be, but how about the tongue for it Is a “weapon” that often destroys. According to Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, God will one day bring everything into judgment and this includes one’s words and communications with others. Therefore, we should be careful, prayerful, and sensitive as we speak.

Prayer: Lord, I surrender and commit to Your service as I speak this day. Guide me to speak refreshing and honoring words.

Project: List words of joy and refreshing enjoyment that you will say today in honor to the Lord and to bless others.
