Pursuing What?

Proverbs 21:21, I Timothy 4:7-8, 6:8, Titus 2:12, II Peter 1:3

It is a good discipline to stop and check what one is really pursuing. Regularly it is good to search the heart, mind, and focus of life to be sure they are focusing on godliness and living out the truths of God’s Word. It is not uncommon for a person to set their mind and life on the wrong objectives such as:

  • Money

  • Recognition

  • Fame

  • Praise of others

  • Worldly practices and such…

As a person focuses or pursues the wrong things, it makes their life off-balanced and headed in the wrong direction. Jesus taught in Matthew 5-6-7 that there must be a difference in how one lives, what the person pursues, and why they are doing what they do. He said, “…but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19b).

Prayer: Search my heart and show me any way I am in wrong pursuits.

Project: List ways to pursue the things of God today.
