Diligence
II Peter 1:5-10, Galatians 6:9, Proverbs 21:5, James 1:12, Ecclesiastes 9;10, Philippians 4:14
If someone wants to achieve or become a winner they practice, run, study, work hard, or as one would say, “they are diligent.” Diligence means to be at something steadily and with effort. The athlete, musician, writer, speaker, salesperson, and the like are diligent and make their goal the focal point of their life. So it should be for the believer as they become more like Christ and are a victorious, growing, mature person in the daily challenges of life. For this to take place the believer must diligently:
Read the Word daily. Hebrews 4:12
Spend time praying and waiting in God’s presence. Isaiah 40:31
Obey the scriptures in every aspect of life. I Samuel 15:22
Trust the Lord at all times. Proverbs 37:3-4
Cultivate the Word in all aspects of life. II Peter 1:5-7
Diligence requires self-discipline and effort. A person does not do this for new life in Christ but because they are a new person in Christ. (II Corinthians 5:17)
Prayer: Lord, help me to be more diligent in my daily desires to be more like You.
