Kind and Gentle
Philippians 4:5, Galatians 5:22-23, Matthew 5:13-16, II Corinthians 5:17, Proverbs 25:11
In a day when many people are so wrapped up in their own lives that the needs of others are ignored, it is the believer’s joy and responsibility to be kind and gentle. We often hear about people who were abused while others watched and did not help the victim, and we are greatly challenged. Also, one is reminded many times of lonely, depressed, and discouraged people who need kindness. It is the character of Christ demonstrated to others that really makes a great difference and impression. Dr. Francis W.Grubbs, in his book entitled, The Glory of Aging, writes, “One of the greatest evidences that God truly lives in the life of an aging Christian is the demonstration of sweet kindness in all we say and do.” Of course, all believers should demonstrate the love of Christ and draw people to the saving joy of the Lord. There is great blessing and joy that come with investing in others with sweet kindness in all that is said and done as we show others the power and presence of our Lord.
Prayer: Lord, help and guide me today to be kind and sweet in all I do and say.
