Dynamic Christian Living

Matthew 5:5-15, Philippians 4:6, Galatians 6:1-2, Ephesians 6:10-18, Luke 18:1

The followers of Christ are presented with many paths or routes of discipleship which may be helpful and productive. However, there is no discipline like that of prayer that must be obeyed. Jesus taught the disciples that prayer should not be said to please others or in order to get the praise of people. Effective prayer should be with the right motive, for the glory of God and for God’s will to be done. Unfortunately, many pray to get what they want or for special things to happen that will indicate they are close to the Lord or prayer may be used as a special “gimmick” to get things from God. Many times prayer is the last resort for people as they have tried everything else. Yes, prayer does take time, effort, discipline, and faith but it does open the door to dynamic Christian living. Often we are reminded of the words penned by the writer many years ago, “err you left your room this morning, did you think to pray?”

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from self-reliance and other sins that keep me from prayer.

Project: List the things that keep you from praying and pray for the victory that only God can give.
