Check Your Thoughts

II Corinthians 10:5, Romans 12:2, II Timothy 1:7, Proverbs 4:23, Proverbs 3:5, Colossians 3:23

Each day one checks various things such as the gas gauge in their car, food in the refrigerator, the weather reports, and much more. As one checks the normal functions of life it is also wise to check one’s thoughts, sensitivity, and obedience to the Word in:

  • Words that are spoken

  • Things that are done

  • Places a person goes

  • Actions and responses

All of life is determined by what one thinks about. Our Lord reminds His obedient followers to carefully check what is in the mind (heart) each day so they live in obedience to the Word and leading of the Holy Spirit. For, “out of the abundance of the heart” a person speaks and lives. Just as one checks the waste can often to throw out the bad, so one must check the mind often and stop thinking thoughts that are not pleasing to the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see and know thoughts that are not pleasing to You.
