Actions Not Intentions

Proverbs 21:25-26, I John 3:18, James 1:22, 27, Titus 1:16, Luke 6:46

Needs are not met when a person just thinks about getting involved. The intention to someday help another does not meet needs as hungry and needy people are not helped by good intentions. It is the action responses that make a difference. One learns as they follow Jesus that He had more than just the ideas to help; He reached out, stopped, and helped the needy as He invested time. So it is with the follower of Christ. One is to do more than talk about the needs of the poor, the needy, orphans, and widows. As God brings them into one’s life and mind, they are to do more than just intend to someday help. It is the great joy of a follower of Christ to get involved. To be God’s hand of love and concern, reaching out to supply needs. Pride and a proud spirit are seen when a person just talks about the needs of others but does nothing.

Prayer: Lord, deliver me from judging others and I give myself to invest and help others as You lead and bring needy people to my attention.
