Let God Do It
Proverbs 20:3, 22, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Matthew 7:1-5, Luke 6:31-36, James 4:11-12, Romans 2:1-3
We often desire to get even, and grudges are held for many years. However, if one is careful and serious they discover from the Bible that this contaminates the heart and greatly affects one’s life. The bitterness, resentment, and the like lead to anger and then to arguments or words spoken that should never be said. This creates more problems and transgressions. It is the desire to get even that drives many to do and be something in which the Word and the ways of God are not honored. According to II Corinthians 5:17, the believer is a new person and changed into the image of Christ. This new person demonstrates the new life as Christ works in and through the child of God. It is best to leave it to God and forget the desire to get even.
Prayer: Lord, cleanse me from resentment and the desire to get even as I follow You to work and move in my life.
Project: List the areas where you are trying to even up the score and give them to the Lord.
