Keeping From Thorns and Snares

Proverbs 22:5, 24:30-34, Habakkuk 2:9-11, I Timothy 6:9

The wise gardener checks the garden often for weeds, thorns, snares, or anything that would be a problem to the fruit in the garden. So, the wise person is careful to come to the Bible daily, meditating in and on the Word and carefully responding in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit to check their life. Unfortunately, some followers of the Lord do not check to see if there are “thorns and snares” that they should deal with before they grow and bring other problems to life. It is by reading the Bible and responding in obedience to the leading of the Lord that one can keep their life clean. Kevin Leman, in his book The Way of the Wise, gives the “powerful prescription” of Proverbs 3:5–6 for a satisfying and fulfilling life. Take time to read and meditate on the instructions and promises in this great passage for a “long-fulfilled life”.

Prayer: God open my spiritual eyes to see any “thorns or snares” I must now deal with.

Project: List the “thorns and snares” God brings to mind now and how you plan to obey the Lord in dealing with these things.
