What Did You Say?

Psalms 15:1, 19:14, 25:11, Ephesians 4:29, Colossians 3:17, James 3:1-10

One of the things we do the most each day is talk. More words are shared on a daily basis than one could count. Just stop and think about all the words that you have spoken in the last two days and put them in the categories:

  • Good

  • Helpful

  • God-honoring

  • Hurting

  • Unnecessary

  • Degrading

To name a few of the possibilities. One of the great challenges of words is that they cannot be brought back after they have been spoken. Many people have been either built up or torn down by the words of others. It is imperative that the believer be cautious with their words and speak to honor the Lord and help others. Yet, often words do just the opposite and distract and hurt rather than build and help.

Prayer: Lord, enlighten my mind to recall words that I have spoken recently and how they have affected others.

Project: List the people that God brings to mind now that need to be encouraged with your response and obedience to speaking the right words.
