Resting in the Lord

Psalm 37:1-8, Proverbs 3:5-6

Many times we do not rest in His ways because we are so overwhelmed with difficulties and struggles. In our world of abundance and things, we often are focusing on things, circumstances, and events that we think would bring rest and comfort to our soul rather than centering our life and attention on our Lord. We are constantly reminded in Scripture to think and focus on that which brings one’s mind to the blessings of our Lord. (Philippians 4:8)

Psalm 37 gives the instruction to “fret not, trust in the Lord, do good, delight in the Lord, commit your way to Him and rest in His timing and provisions.” Resting and trusting in the Lord refreshes one’s soul and gives peace of heart (Philippians 4:7). We may not have all the “things” and “ways” our heart desires, but in our Lord, we can have joy. (Nehemiah 8:10)
